Stewardship at Saint Philip Neri

Part of the legacy and tradition of St. Philip Neri has always been people who’ve generously given of their time, talent, and treasure. Throughout the past 99 years, frequently those who had the financial means contributed so that those who did not could send their children to SPN school. Msgr. Busald and the parish itself frequently assisted families financially. This tradition continues today as so many parishioners, alumni, and benefactors share in the legacy of the ministry we do in Jesus’ name.

During the week of April 27 thru May 3, we honor the many who give thousands of hours of their time to volunteer here at St. Philip. During NATIONAL VOLUNTEER APPRECIATION WEEK we say “thanks” to all who share so much of themselves here at SPN.

Fundraising

Our biggest fund raiser is the Annual Alumni Appeal. This event relies on donations from our friends, alumni, and parish community It is through their loving grace and support that we can continue our Catholic education and ministry on the near eastside of Indianapolis.

The proceeds from the Alumni Appeal will go to assist with parish ministry, school operating expenses, operations, and tuition assistance. This event usually takes place in the Spring. Due to planning of our 100th Anniversary it will not take place in 2008. But donations can still be made to St. Philip Neri.

The Reverse Raffle, Each year local businesses donate items to be raffled off to raise money to help support our school and help the Church with improvements. The Reverse Raffle is held in May in Busald Hall. The usual cost per ticket is $30.00, which includes a cocktail hour, hors d’oeuvres, dinner, drinks all evening, and a chance to win $2000 dollars.

(The Irish Fest) Our annual Irish celebration is held once a year usually the month of March on the Sunday before St. Patrick’s Day. It consists of dinner, dancing, and live entertainment (Irish Music). Beer and wine are also available.

Our annual Dinner Theatre takes place in the Fall, late September or beginning of October. There are four shows, two week end’s (Saturday & Sunday). It includes, an all you can eat buffet and the show. Beer and wine are also available.

Estate Donations

St. Philip Neri has been blessed by many generous parishioners, alumni and benefactors. Folks who grew up in this neighborhood, went to school here, and shared in the great tradition of this parish “giving back” to continue this legacy. We very much appreciate these gifts that have allowed us to continue Christ´s ministry here in the center city. These bequests have included contributions of stock, real estate, and cash.
